VDL Equipment UK will be exhibiting at the Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2026 Stand Y34, utilising the event to give the industry a first look at a major engineering milestone: the country’s first Volvo FM Electric chassis fitted with a skiploader body.

Taking pride of place on the VDL stand, the zero-tailpipe-emission rigid represents a significant leap forward in sustainable skip hire and urban recycling operations. VDL is inviting operators and journalists to inspect the landmark build in person before it officially hits the road.

The state-of-the-art battery-electric chassis has been supplied by established dealer Stuarts Truck and Bus and seamlessly integrated with VDL’s highly regarded skiploader system. Following its exclusive preview at RTX, the pioneering vehicle will enter immediate operation with leading operator EMS Waste Services.

News Summary:

● VDL Equipment UK to use Road Transport Expo 2026 to offer a sneak preview of a major zero-emission milestone for the waste sector

● Stand Y34 to feature the UK’s first Volvo FM Electric chassis equipped with a bespoke VDL skiploader system

● Landmark vehicle supplied by Stuarts Truck and Bus for EMS Waste Services; full operational specifications to follow post-show

● Stand to also showcase a trio of diesel-powered builds, including 12-tonne DAF, 32-tonne Scania, and 32-tonne Volvo FH chassis equipped with VDL P8 and S25 systems

Brett Hickey, Sales Director at VDL Equipment UK, says: “RTX is the perfect venue to give the UK waste sector a sneak peek at this incredible vehicle. We intentionally wanted to preview the truck on our stand so operators can see the build quality and integration for themselves before it goes to work.

"By working in close collaboration with Stuarts Truck and Bus and EMS Waste Services, we have delivered a highly capable, fully electric solution. We look forward to sharing the full technical and operational details of the truck once it enters daily service shortly after the show”

Displayed alongside the flagship electric rigid will be a trio of highly specified diesel vehicles, demonstrating VDL’s comprehensive capability across the weight ranges. Visitors can inspect a highly maneuverable 12-tonne DAF XB mounted with VDL P8 skiploader equipment, alongside two heavy-duty 32-tonne Scania & Volvo Rigids - both equipped with the company’s robust VDL S25 hookloader systems.

Team members from VDL Equipment UK will be on hand throughout the three-day event to discuss the industry first and the wider vehicle lineup, as well as bespoke waste handling systems.
