The one-stop industry event that’s all about the truck and everything related to it
Sunswap, the British manufacturer of zero-emission transport refrigeration, will showcase its commercial success at Road Transport Expo (RTX) 2025 at NAEC Stoneleigh from 24-26 June.
Following last year's preview, Sunswap returns with production units now operating in commercial fleets across the UK and Europe.
Visitors to Stand Y23 will have the opportunity to see the Sunswap Endurance zero-emission refrigeration. The battery and solar-powered system out-performs diesel refrigeration units while eliminating direct emissions and reducing operating costs by up to 81%.
Alastair Gough, Head of Business Development at Sunswap, said "After introducing Endurance at RTX last year, we're returning with real-world success stories from our commercial deployments. Operators including DFDS, Greenyard, and more have integrated our zero-emission technology into their fleets, validating both the performance and commercial benefits of our approach to sustainable refrigerated transport."
Since attending RTX last year, Sunswap has achieved significant milestones. The company secured £17.3 million in Series B funding to accelerate growth in August 2024, launched commercial units with DFDS in November 2024, and this January expanded its manufacturing facility in Leatherhead to meet growing demand in the UK and European markets.
"One common misconception we clarified was about the battery location. Unlike some systems, our batteries aren't mounted underneath the trailer—they're securely integrated within the refrigeration unit itself at the front of the trailer. This design maximises both safety and efficiency," Gough explained.
Another frequent question was around solar technology, particularly its effectiveness during winter months. "While we're fortunate RTX takes place during summer when solar generation is at its peak, Endurance is primarily a battery-powered system with solar providing an additional source of free, clean energy that extends operating range. On average, solar panels can provide about 80% of energy requirements year-round, increasing to 100% for some customers during summer months. Even at a winter exhibition, Endurance would still be generating power while sitting at Stoneleigh," added Gough.
Last year's event was valuable for the Sunswap team, providing opportunities to connect with both new prospects and familiar industry colleagues. Building on that success, the team is planning something special for RTX 2025, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Sunswap team will be available throughout the three-day event to discuss how Endurance can easily fit into their operations as well as sharing insights from commercial deployments, and arrange trials.
With manufacturing now established and production scaling up, Sunswap invites transport operators to visit Stand Y23 to discover how zero-emission refrigeration can enhance sustainability, operations and financial performance.
