Scania to launch 11-litre Super engine at Road Transport Expo

Scania will launch a new 11-litre engine into its Super line-up, offering operators a lighter, more efficient powertrain designed for weight-critical applications.

Making its global debut at this year’s Road Transport Expo, the new engine promises improved performance, fuel savings and greater operational flexibility.

Available to order from June, the 11-litre Super slots neatly between Scania’s existing 9- and 13-litre diesel units, and is up to 85kg lighter than the 13-litre. It also delivers up to 7% better fuel economy than the 9-litre, helped by Scania’s cam phaser technology for real-time thermal management and a patented turbo dosing system that improves AdBlue efficiency.

Three power ratings are available – 350hp (1,800Nm), 390hp (2,000Nm) and 430hp (2,200Nm) – with the two higher outputs also available with FAME compatibility. All versions support HVO as standard.

Scania says the new powertrain is ideal for a variety of applications, from tippers, bulk transport and refuse collection to recovery trucks and fire engines.

With claimed smoother driving characteristics, balance shafts to reduce vibration, and longer maintenance intervals than its smaller sibling, the Super 11-litre is aimed at operators looking to increase payload without sacrificing performance.

“This engine is lighter, leaner and more flexible,” said Ayyoob Zarmehri, product manager, truck sales and marketing. “It’s a smart choice for operators balancing performance, payload and sustainability.”

Scania will be exhibiting at Road Transport Expo 2025 on stands B11 and G42.
