After a brief period designing radar systems, Gary Beecroft moved to Rover Cars in Oxford to work with the advanced engineering group on simulating vehicle crash tests using finite element analysis and other simulation tools. He then moved to the Ford Motor Company design centre in Cologne, Germany to work on the body-in-white structure of the Ford Mondeo. After studying for an MBA at Cranfield School of Management he joined Standard & Poor’s / DRI, an economic consultancy, that forecast the demand for future automotive components and systems. In 2000 he started his own company, CLEAR International, carrying out similar projects for automotive companies, and also started the regular publication of forecasts for the European Trailer Market.
